Patch Knife

I have long been a fan of a very small fixed blade knife over a folder. Very early on when I started making knives, I made a very small fixed blade that I called my “Pocket Knife Replacement.” Before that, I had been carrying stuff like the Bark River Mikro Canadian. I sold a couple PKR knives, but wasn’t totally happen with the design, so I pulled it from my line-up. Until now, I had not re-visited the concept of a knife in that size.

This time around, I decided to make this size and style more of a “Patch Knife.” Hence, the creative name.  I have been using my own personal one for quite some time. I find the blade length longer than my Mikro, and longer than my old PKR, giving it more utility, without being oversized. The handle length is about ¾ the width of my hand. The other interesting feature is that the curve of the handle, and curve of the blade makes this a very natural feeling cutting tool. Those combined features make it extremely versatile in a small package. If I start making the handle length longer, I might as well have a full length handle. So, I think this knife fills a really good niche for me.
