Full Tang Stick Tang
I made my first stick tang (full tang) knife as a science project. Something I really wanted to do. I made it with a combination of reindeer antler, leather and curly birch. I searched and searched and was never satisfied with a butt cap that could thread on to the full tang and not ruin the looks of the knife. So, I asked a local machinst to make me up a couple custom caps. It worked out great, and the knife was gorgeous! But doing that for sale is not something that I could do at a reasonable cost. I had to come up with another plan.
First, here is the full tang, stick tang style of knife I came up with for sale.
I wanted to be able to make the handle out of more or less a solid piece of material and I figured out how to do that with a traditional tang nut.
The knife comes in your choice of handle materal. If it is something odd, just double check that I can get hold of a piece first. I have no issues getting something special. I just have a list of options as a “starting point.”
Right now, I am only using brass hardware. At a minimum, there will be a piece of brass between the handle and the blade. If you want it dressed up with leather, liners or even a piece of bone, let me know and we will work it out. To keep costs down, I just want to make the majority of the handle a solid piece.
